I'm Federico Salmeron, lead photographer of Federico Salmeron Photography, a dedicated team of fine-art photographers.
We LOVE to work with South Asian weddings as we love the culture and the meaningful wedding rituals. We have extensive experience capturing all the important moments of a South Asian wedding - from the baraat to the milni, to the vidai, our team know where (and more importantly when) to be there to capture it all!
We offer photography, videography, drones, and underwater photography.
What inspired you to start shooting weddings?
I love weddings! It is the most unique event filled with raw emotions and family connections; for me, it is amazing to document the beginning of a new family being created. I used to be a cinematographer but I shifted towards photography a decade ago! I have almost exclusively shot Indian weddings here in Riviera Maya for the past few years working with so many stunning couples.

Tell us something about your personal life that clients wouldn't find out from your Instagram page or wedding albums?
I'm a Spaniard expat living in Mexico, I came here chasing a beautiful Mexican woman! We are both vegetarians, we love to rescue animals from the streets, meditate, and drink coffee. We live with four amazing cats! Most recently, we started a vegan cheese business here to help other vegans source healthy, home-made, delicious cheese!

I love to do timeless and honest photography where you can see depp and real emotions and the feelings of such an important day.

What makes an Indian wedding so unique to shoot for you?
I love Indian culture! I love the colors, the rituals, the traditions, and most of all the people! Indian people are the most warming, polite, fun, and the best dancers I have ever seen! I work now exclusively with South Asian couples and I embrace the culture, we even dress in kurta pajamas for the wedding. Not only does it allow us to better connect with couples and their guests, but as we reach to get the best shots up-close to the ceremony, we blend right in with your guests!
What is the best shooting experience you've had at a wedding? What made it special?
Every wedding is special for me and the team, I have always something to cherish from every wedding. What I always love is when raw emotions come up, when you can feel the real connection between the couple and the families; it's amazing when I capture candid photos of real moments!

What should couples think about when hiring their wedding photographer?
It is important that they make a connection, someone who makes them feel relaxed from the moment they meet; is so important to choose someone that you can relate to as the photographer will be with you the whole weekend. You need someone honest, committed and ready to go above and beyond to capture all the real moments.
What piece of advice would you give brides and grooms to ensure that they get wedding photos they love forever?
Forget about the camera, forget about controlling the day! The photo and video team is there to document everything so just relax and enjoy the experience. The time will fly so focus on each other; smile, cry, dance, have fun, and enjoy your family and friends. The team and I will coach you to make you look amazing!

What is the most unique photo you have ever taken?
I always try to create new artwork for my couple so they have something that is unique and special for them. I face every wedding like it could be the last so I push myself to create photos that me and my couples will love. I have many favorites not just for the photo but for the love and fun that was behind them.
What is your favorite moment you like to capture?
For sure walking down the aisle is one of the best moments, when all the stress and anticipation clears away, once the vows have been said, and all the love and honesty is out there; you can see the happiness and excitement on the couple's face.
