Jhankarlo Photography is a company based in Riviera Maya, Mexico that specializes in destination weddings. With more than 10 years of experience shooting weddings, not only in Mexico but all over the globe. In the last 6 years, photography took him to participate in several conferences for photographers as a speaker all over Mexico, Spain, and Colombia. His first contact with photography happened when he was just a little kid, as he grew up in a family of photographers. This influenced his style. The best way to describe his approach is "totally the opposite to classic pictures". He always emphasizes trying something he has never seen before.
What inspired you to start shooting weddings?
I'm in love with photography !! I'm taking pictures of everything all the time, every day of my life ! haha I especially love wedding photography because I'm a happy person and I love to see everybody happy, laughing, having a great time. This is definitely a perfect time to capture all these incredible situations in an amazing place. Also, I feel honored to know that somebody will see our work in 30 years, makes my heart smile.

Tell us something about your personal life that clients wouldn't find out from your Instagram page or wedding albums?
I'm constantly participating in activities and donating money helping little kids in poor communities in Mexico.

What makes an Indian wedding so unique to shoot for you?
As a photographer, something that drives me crazy is to capture different cultures. I love Indian weddings because they are full of culture, the music, the food, colors, textures, flavors, traditions. OMG it's like an explosion of the Indian culture
What is the best shooting experience you've had at a wedding? What made it special?
Every wedding it's special to me, every client leaves a mark on me. One day we were shooting a wedding and during the father & daughter dance and everybody started to cry. I was confused, I had never seen anything like that before. So I took pictures of all the guests crying and of course father & daughter moments. Later during the dinner the mother of the bride got close to me just to say thank you, only for the reason of being there documenting her daughter's wedding. She explained why everybody was crying during the first dance. When the bride was a little girl her father had been diagnosed with cancer and he was close to dying. The father promised to stay with her because he wanted to dance with his daughter on her wedding day. So all these years he was fighting, trying to stay alive only for that moment. I couldn't help it, I was crying when she told me the story. So I realize how honored we were to be there, and capture this moment.

What should couples think about when hiring their wedding photographer?
The only thing that they keep after the wedding is just memories, photo and video is the only thing they have left.
What piece of advice would you give brides and grooms to ensure that they get wedding photos they love forever?
Forget about everything, don't worry about everything, high expectations usually don't help. So relax, enjoy the moment. Have Fun !!!
